In early January, the weather was so beautiful, that we decided to spend an afternoon in Nature and headed to Franklin Falls, located on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River near Snoqualmie Pass. The beautiful, three tiered water falls are very popular with day hikers of all abilities as the trail is mellow and relatively short. It is only a 2-mile round-trip from the Franklin Falls' parking lot. In Winter, you can really get up close and personal with Franklin Falls as most of the splash pool is under a thick layer of snow covered ice. Boot traction devices such as microspikes proved indispensable in order for us to safely navigate the steep, often icy sections of the trail and approach the falls. Standing close to the falls showered us with drops of water which froze almost instantly on us. We ended the adventure with a drive through the snow towards Snoqualmie Pass. It was a blast as this was our first 'snow wheeling' with the lifted suspension. "Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower."
