"Kindness is like snow - It beautifies everything it covers." Fantastic scenery, waterfalls, creeks, rocky switchbacks, snow fields, steep cliffs, wildflowers, rolling clouds, ice and snow covered lake = Snow Lake Adventure. We visited this gorgeous alpine lake twice last month. It was still mostly frozen and some parts of the trail were under slowly melting layers of snow. Having a good set of hiking boots helped our feet stay dry on the way back as the trail turned into a running stream. Snow Lake is one of the local favorites for good reasons. It is relatively close to Seattle, the trail is not too physically demanding hence accessible to hikers of various ages and abilities. It offers breathtaking views of the valley, Chair and Roosevelt Peaks, and the glorious Cascade Mountains in the distance. It is not uncommon for the lake to stay frozen well into June or even early July hence making its name no accident.
